Plitvice lakes
Plitvice lakes is Croatia's first National park established in 1949 and it is enlisted in the UNESCO's.
World Heritage List i 1979. Plitvice lakes is the largest national park in Croatia and its special for the phenomenon of karst hydrography.
The park offers a handful of lakes, waterfalls, forest with diversity of animal life.
Beautiful experience is ever changing colors of the lakes from blue, grey, azur to green, caused by different angle of sunlight and quantity of minerals and organisms in the lakes. There are 16 lakes all together which are divided into upper and lower lakes. All around the lakes in the lenght of about 10 kilometers there are pathways and walking trails for visitors, since hiking is one of the organized programs and activities for the visitors. There is also a possibility to get on electric train and boat ride as to try skiing, cycling and rowing.
Once you are in that region there is alot of different sights to visit and things to do.
Plitvice lakes as one of the most beautiful sights in Croatia, are listed between 10 most beautiful lakes and waterfalls in the world by the" BudgetTravel". National Park Plitvice is in the third place on that list, behind Niagara falls and Hawaii Hanakapia'ai falls. Entrance fee per person is 15 $. The colour of the lakes is intense turquoise due to a little organisms and minerals in the water. You should walk around on your own and not in the group, so you can enjoy the scenery and take the rest if you want. The best time to visit Plitvice is when it's warm, from May till September."

Nikola Tesla memorial centre at Smiljan
Nikola Tesla, a world-renowned scientist and inventor, was born on 10th July, 1856 in the village of Smiljan, not far from the city of Gospić, where he began his quest to discover the mysteries of nature. To celebrate Tesla's life and achievements, on the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Republic of Croatia has proclaimed the year of 2006 as "Tesla' Year" and his name has been honoured with his own Memorial Centre in his native village.
First Croatian shelter for young bears on the mountain of Velebit
The first Croatian shelter for young and abandoned bears has been built in the village of Kuterovo, which has been chosen for its excellent geographical position near densely populated bear habitats on the Northern Velebit.
